In releasing the Art History Tarot for Past Lives, this cartomancy tool has highlighted the use of card divination to access past lives. People well-versed in tarot immediately see the value in such a deck: the magical properties and/or spiritual value of the cards are typically not in question for those who fall within this demographic.
Yet there exists a pool of people who are interested in past life exploration, but aren't sure that cards are going to be up to the task of uncovering the subconscious. In order to understand how divination cards can unlock the details of past lives, it's important to understand (and embrace) four basic principles:
The Power of Intuition First, it's important to understand the power of intuition. Common examples include: the hairs that go up on the back of your neck in an unfamiliar location; that negative vibe you get about that sketchy person at the office; that split second decision that proves to be fatefully right. If you don't possess an inherent faith in your intuition, or at least in the presence and power of intuition in general, it will be difficult to divine anything through cards. Just like trusting the hypnotic process in regressive therapy is needed to begin, a certain amount of basic trust (or at least, a sincere and open curiosity) will be needed to unlock what I call "the talkers," repeating cards that reappear in card spread after card spread to reinforce their significance in delivering a message. The Principle of Impending Spiritual Messages There exists a force in the universe, a karmic, centrifugal osmosis of spiritual energy which seeks to create balance on the earth plane. Organisms grow. Cycles complete. Just as a child grows taller, your spiritual self grows wiser. It is the natural way of life. Food, (energy), fuels the body to grow. Messages fuel the spirit to grow. What you need spiritually is magnetically drawn to you through Spirit. This is the meaning of "seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Understanding that the truth seeks you out is the ground layer of faith that will heighten and facilitate the card divining process. Knowing and recognizing key truths from your past lives will quicken your healing and growth. The Principle of Serendipity Serendipity is the development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. This principle is a sort of sub-principle or manifestation of the principle of impending spiritual messages. When numbers cross my path: a table number at a restaurant, a repeating number in a cash register receipt, a noticeable order number from an online purchase, I often look up the meaning to that number or sequence of numbers (this is remarkably easy to do nowadays with numerous websites). I trust that those little moments are part of the impending messages striving to reach me. The extreme to this principle would be, "Everything happens for a reason." I think that's an overgeneralization. Not everything happens for a reason. There isn't always a relevant message contained within your table number. But it's important to believe that there could be, and then open your heart and mind to receive. Understanding the principle of serendipity will streamline the card divination process for uncovering your past life truths. Faith in Your Own Spiritual Authority It is my opinion that you are the best spiritual authority for yourself. Although I believe in the power and necessity of community, you hold all the truth and power you need to discern spiritual truths for your life, and you are most likely the best equipped to do so. People with spiritual talents or positions of authority can, will, and should bless your life and contribute to your spiritual growth. But it is important to not lean on others completely to map out your own truth, particularly when exploring your past lives. Regression therapy has made tremendous strides in aiding people to connect to their past lives. For many years, it has been the standard for accessing that information. However, some people are not particularly susceptible to hypnosis. Regression therapy is expensive and the average person can only afford to do a few sessions a year. Card divination offers daily exercise that will inevitably reveal truths about your spirit and past lives. With a couple resources offered in this complete set (deck, book, and workbook) it is not necessary to have any previous experience or understanding of tarot to use this tool successfully. The power of cartomancy is an often untapped and overlooked source for remarkable spiritual revelation.
